EMily CRousE, NP-C
Board Certified Nurse PractitionerI didn’t plan on becoming passionate about women’s health. But lived experience has a way of changing what you notice—and what you’re no longer willing to accept.
After more than two decades in healthcare, my own health journey showed me how easily symptoms can be viewed in isolation when the bigger picture tells a different story. Today, my approach brings together conventional and functional medicine to look beyond individual symptoms and better understand the connections between thyroid health, hormones, metabolism, and the way you actually feel.
Meet Your Clinician
I'm a native of the Midwest. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004 and after graduating I returned home to begin my nursing career. As a registered nurse, I worked in neuro-trauma intensive care and cardiology before joining a neurosurgery practice.
After several years in clinical nursing, I went back to school and earned my Master's in Nursing in 2012. Since then, I've practiced as a nurse practitioner, working in both acute care and outpatient settings.
In 2018, I began integrating more holistic approaches in my practice becoming a certified food as medicine practitioner, certified yoga instructor and in 2025 began the journey as a board certified functional medicine practitioner and nurse health coach.
Clinically Trained, Functionally Minded.
Outside the clinic, life is full — my husband, our daughter, and our silver Labrador retriever (who acts like a second child, if we're being honest) keep things lively at home. We're drawn to remote, out-of-the-way places and mountain trails more than crowded destinations, and we've made it a family goal to visit every U.S. National Park.
My favorite days are simple ones — time with family, a good book, a trail I haven’t hiked yet, or planning the next trip somewhere new. However life shows up, I try to take every chance I can to slow down and live intentionally — I bring the same curiosity to my own life that I bring to my patients’ care: paying attention to what actually makes me feel well, and making room for it!
Our Philosophy
Connected
health is more than a collection of separate symptoms.
Personalized
your history, labs, symptoms, goals, and real life shape your care.
Grounded
the best plan is grounded in your data and built for your actual everyday life.
Who We Are
-
The best of medicine. A wider lens.
You shouldn't have to choose between evidence-based medical care and a clinician who listens and wants to understand the bigger picture.
Our approach brings the two together.
We use comprehensive lab testing, clinical assessment and evidence-informed treatment alongside nutrition, movement, sleep, stress support and targeted supplementation + medications when appropriate.
Because sometimes medication matters.
Sometimes lifestyle matters.
And most often, the answer isn't one or the other.
It's knowing when to use what.
-
Listen First
Your story matters. We make space to hear it.Partner With You
You're part of the plan, not just on the receiving end of it.Show Up for the Long Game
Small, consistent steps beat quick fixes or perfect plans.Keep It Practical
Good healthcare should support your life — not take it over. -
Wilderness Hive Integrative Medicine was created to bridge a gap I saw both as a healthcare provider and as a patient—the space between conventional medicine and a more comprehensive, whole-person approach.
What began as a desire to help women better understand their health has grown into a personalized medical practice focused on thyroid, hormone, and metabolic care. A place where symptoms are connected, questions are welcomed, and conventional and functional medicine can work together.
Because good healthcare shouldn’t be either/or. It should be thoughtful, personalized, and built around you.
Your Health
Is Personal
Become a PatientThat’s why your care should start with your story—not a one-size-fits-all plan. If you’re ready for a more personalized approach, we’re ready to look at the whole picture with you.
